Cross language searches etc
Attend a talk today of cross language searches. Quite interesting. The fact that its easier to search another language rather than translate it. And that translating for the purpose of machine understanding is a problem that is easier to solve (or has been solved ) compared translation for machine understanding. The speaker from Univ of Maryland had an example where they did some research on Translation from Hindi.
Also finished with my PlsString and regex related stuff that I have been working on. See if it really works now.

Fingerprinting .. etc..
Its 6.15 now and am feeling so tired.. had to go to INS office for fingerprinting ..freaking 2hr drive for a 10minute job. On top of that R got irritiated cause I hauled her up without her receiving any notification from ins ..
lots of pressure at work .. some kind of stupid conversion thing. and yet lots of false starts.. someone saave me ..

Anniv
My stupid luck. Or rather my stupid mistake. I had commited to be with my neighbour/friends on thier anniv ( which is today). But I completely forgot that I had a meeting scheduled .. a dumb meeing to which I am not going to contribute at all ....
On top of that I am having an headache .. bad start to this week ..it can only get better .

You hear these songs after a long time and it evokes some disant longing.. tansports me back to my college hostel room where all I had company of were these songs and my text books..of course the mould growing on damp monsoon wall. Know what I feel like now ? a cigarrete and sweet tea .. and this song playing somewhere afar.
Think suman Kalayan pur wrote this .. wonder why she didn't become as famous as lata..

cpp quirks
I bet not many ppl know this : What it means to defive from a class publically, or by portected or private. The info is snuck in the utterly inscrutable Bjarne's C++ book. Has somehting to do with weather the defived class ptr ( D *) may be assigned to base calss ( B* ) or not .
Other than that. Boring. R is in a queer mood since monday. Dunno whats up.

W-2
Still haven't got the w2 from peak. (my last company). Have writen to Bill. Am anxious to file the taxes to know how much I get back ( or owe ). I hope I do get money, considering that I was jobless for first half of 03.
Nothing interesting today morning .. kind of boring.

Two meetings since 10.30. Locks my brain out cause:
1- I am new to this project. So don't knwo what the heck they are talking abt.
2- 2 meetings are a bit 2 much for me.

Listening to the soundtrack of Gladiator while coding some regexp stuff. Grand music. Transports you right in to the arena ...
a slight aside on the topic: Master and commander. Heard the only reason he didn't get a nomination is cause of his arrogance ..

Monsoon wedding-
Listening to monsoon wedding's score on AOL radio. Blend of various indian calssical music. Soothing .. makes you stop whatever you were doing and listen .. got to buy is someday ..

btw aol radio is great . ( not just cause I work at AOL :) )
